As you admire crystal-clear turquoise seas from a Taormina piazza swathed in vibrant pink blossom, you could be forgiven for thinking that you were in paradise. The stunning location of this picturesque town is its crowning glory.
However, it’s not its only glory. Surrounded by trees just below the main town, the Greek Theatre is also a triumph. Its largely intact seating offers wonderful views across the stage towards Mount Etna fuming away in the distance. Spine-tingling summer performances are still held here, and several of the town’s bars also offer live music.
Corso Umberto I runs through the heart of Taormina, from Piazza Corvaja to the 13th-century cathedral, and houses many shops and cafés. Midway along is Piazza IX Aprile, whose clock tower and church are overlooked by a rocky hill topped with a castle.
A cable car runs from the town down to the beautiful Taormina beaches (where the train station is also found). At the centre of the W-shaped bay is little Isola Bella, an island nature reserve. To the south-west is the long stretch of sand at Giardini-Naxos, and north is the bay by Mazzaró.
As you would expect of Sicily’s most beautiful resort, there is no shortage of Taormina accommodation on Booking.com, including 5-star hotels on the beach, town centre apartments and luxury B&Bs.

An interesting and intriguing city through the stories and symbols that surround it. A lot to go up and down, so you need comfortable shoes and some physical condition, many interesting points of attraction full of history, interesting places, but the prices seemed a bit high for the month of March. All in all, it's a place worth seeing and exploring.

Taormina is so pittoresque and beautiful!
Taormina is so pittoresque and beautiful! A view of all the italian cliches that you can think of! It has it all: great views of the sea and the Etna Volcano, beautiful beaches, orange trees all over the place and last but not least, awesome food! Sicilian have different types of food and I especially enjoyed arancini and the sweets! Overall, it has a really great vibe!

We would possibly stay for 1-2 more days than we initially planned because we have not experienced all the planned activities, however, overall 2-3 nights is perfectly fine if you are on active pace of visiting places, spending some time here & there.

The food and wine were fantastic.
The food and wine were fantastic. Finding you way around the town and surrounding area is quite easy. Incredible views from our Hotel Diodoro. Everything is quite close and within walking distance. Hilly streets and walkways but so worth the effort. Cabs and tours pick you up at your hotels or meeting spots. Definitely worth a revisit.

Stunningly beautiful city.
Stunningly beautiful city.
Our accommodarion was extremely nice.
Must sees were the Teatro Antico, Castelmola via Interbus or taxi, the view of Etna from outside Porta Catania and Corso Umberto.
It was difficult to get information about local transport. a man in the Interbus/Etna office refused to tell me where the town buses which stopped outside his office were going! We learned by getting on one and seeing for ourselves, there is a circular bus for one euro every 45 mins, plus others we did not try!
Taxi drivers at the Bus station unhelpful, they did not want to take us such a short distance to the city entrance.. Nobody told us the circular bus stops there! They did tell us to walk up a narrow steep hill with no pavement (we are in our 70s with heavy luggage). We had to beg them to take us and they certainly charged for it!
Food and drink was expensive, a starter, main course and bottle of local wine for two in a restaurant could cost well over 100 euro. Basic trattoria equivalent about 80 euro (cheapest bottle of local wine in one was 32 euro). The quality in the trattorias we tried was not good , Best place for drinks and granita only was the very friendly and reasonable Bam Bar. a life saver!

It is a charming city, spending 3 days is enough, there are good restaurants and the boat trip was very nice (I recommend the private tour) note that the snorkel boats were too full and that could be uncomfortable.
Friendly staff, 24-7 concierge service, parking, great location - near Taormina cable car and with private beach
The breakfast versatility was quite limited , yet the dining terrace was amazing. We also enjoyed the restaurant evening meals - good quality and moderate pricing
We left the hotel before breakfast and got some early food packages prepared specially for us.
The wooden furniture and room design patterns date back to early 1970s, but as everything in Italy - it has the style and good vibes
I booked here at the last minute because I wanted to stay 2 more days in Taormina, so I didn't know what to expect. In the end, the house, room, and owners were extremely lovely. The view from the room was amazing, the location is super central, the room was spacious, and breakfast was satisfying. Melina and her daughter were super helpful and did their best to make my stay pleasant. Staying at hotels makes me feel like a tourist, but this place helped me feel like a local
The Hotel Villa Belvedere is in the city of Taormina and a stones throw from the Teatro Antico di Taormina and the botanical gardens. The hotel is simply beautiful with breathtaking views overlooking the sea and Mount Etna. We booked a 2 bedroom suite for a family of 4 which was luxurious and well equipped. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. There was parking at the hotel, albeit at an additional charge. A perfect holiday.
Great location in a quiet street overlooking the gulf of Taormina, but not far from the centre of the city. Restaurants and shops easily reachable.
The sea view from the room I booked is breathtaking. I lived sitting on the balcony and watch the sunrise, the sunset and everything in between. Even the bathroom has a window with sea view! The hotel ans the rooms are kept clean. The staff is friendly and helpful.
It was the best location and the best view of Taormina! We stayed in the room ‘Vista mare’ and had an amazing experience. It was super clean and included everything that we need. Host was super nice and helpful and guided us really well with the restaurants and bars around. The breakfasts were in someother property (close to the hotel) and the view there were amazing as well. Strongly recommend this place.
This place is a gem! By far the best level of service we experienced during our time in Sicily. The location is perfect: on a quiet street just 3 minutes walk to the bustling center of Taormina. Rooms are spacious, beds comfortable and amenities comparable to those offered by a 5 star hotel. Loved the personal touches and the time taken to show us around. Definitely the place to stay in Taormina.
Beautiful hotel in Taormina. Rooms have been remodelled and are massive with plenty of space. Centrally located in the heart of the city with a great shuttle to the beach. Bathrooms are a little tight but the views make up for it. Great staff here to help with your daily activities. Parking is available at hotel which is great. Beds are very comfortable and large
Everything was in the apartment and It looked clean. Nice little balcony for yourself with an amazing view over the ocean and Isola Bella. A busstop right in front of the hotel that takes you to the station.
The check in was great. The worker told me how to get into the town of Taormina, explained very well where I could find the centre and was very polite.
UNAHOTELS Capotaormina is the quintessential place to spend your relaxing vacation. It has simply everything you might need in a luxury hotel. The staff were so kind and accommodating, and supplied us with what we needed within minutes every time. I would come back to this place every single year if I had the opportunity! 10/10 hotel.
The location was optimal with just a 5 minute walk to the city Centre. We travelled to Taormina mostly for a concert at the old theatre so the hotel was only a few minutes walk away. The staff were also incredibly friendly and helpful; sharing very useful information and offering tours for various attractions around the area.
The staff was wonderful, extremely helpful and the rooms were fantastic, and the location was perfect, there is no better place to stay in Taormina! Will definitely be back and highly recommend staying at this property. The hotel is much newer than some of the other luxury hotels and the space is so much nicer and cleaner.
Best stay in our travelling history.
Attention to details was overwhelming from design to spotlless cleaning. Hotel offers lots of chill spaces, a good cocktail bar, nice pool.
Location is very close to all Taormina important things to do and see, 100m from the cable car that goes down to the beach area.
A real 5* !
Perfect Location. Private Beach with a bar, chairs and umbrellas with a view of Islo Bella. Infinity Pool overlooking Bay of Naxos and Mt Etna with poolside bar service. Pool area had plenty of chairs with stunning views. Staff very attentive. The hotel had a free shuttle service to Taormina.
The hotel staff were very welcoming! We had a great chat with Angelo and a lovely time at the Garden hotel in general! Great breakfast! There was a private access to a beach and it was super close to Isola Bella as well. Taormina centre is a short bus ride away or a 30min walk.
Nice location close to Lumbi Parking. 5 minutes walk to the centre of Taormina. Small but nice hotel. Beautiful view from the balcony! Really good breakfast!
Charming boutique hotel in the heart of Taormina. The rooms are sparkling clean and very nicely designed and the view from their terrace is breathtaking.
